Welcome to New Zealand
Living in New Zealand
New Zealanders know what it’s like arriving somewhere new, so we want to make getting to know New Zealand as easy for you as we can. Our country is a land of wide open spaces, where the elements come alive. We share a fierce appreciation of the land that inspires us and provides opportunities for ourselves and for future generations.
The lifestyle of New Zealanders is one of Balance; New Zealanders believe life is for living. It’s about balancing a good day’s work with time for family and friends plus all the recreation and wide open spaces our country offers. We are a nation of adventure and leisure, from planning your weekend going surfing or swimming at the beach in the morning to skiing and snowboarding up the mountain in the afternoon, our small size allows for this much in one day.
Our small population of 4.5 million also means relatively low crime rates, smaller less crowded cities and residential towns and communities and therefore less commuting to and from work.

Living and Working in Christchurch
Christchurch is a city that lets you dictate the pace to suit your life – be it relaxing or action packed.
With a population of 398,000, Christchurch is most commonly described as New Zealand’s Garden City, with picturesque parks, stunning gardens and flowing rivers through wide open land.
The beauty of the old is perfectly balanced by the city’s vibrant cultural scene. A bustling nightlife, strong arts focus popping up around the city, thriving cafés and bars on almost every corner and a number of wineries all provide hours of entertainment to suit your tastes.
Recreation is also well catered for, with the city’s natural surroundings providing unspoiled playgrounds for a host of activities. Just minutes from the city, a round of golf can be enjoyed on one of a number of quality courses, or if you’d prefer, sprawling beaches offer the perfect destination to relax in the sand or play amongst the waves.
If getting close to nature is more your thing, the Port Hills are the place for you. Towering on the outskirts of the city, the hills are a favourite among mountain bikers, walkers and those who appreciate the captivating scenery that is there to be taken in. A number of ski fields are also within easy reach by car across the Canterbury Plains.
Christchurch’s climate is the envy of many, delivering the best to suit the season – balmy in summer and cool in winter – perfect for those alpine activities!
